Often it seems like you are jumping around a lot during a project and it is true. Sometimes money is an issue and so you work on less expensive areas, or perhaps you are waiting on back ordered parts. Our project hasn’t been any different, and that is why you will see us working on different areas of our project at different times. At least that way it will seem like you are always moving forward, and hopefully you wont grow tired of the whole thing. Anyway on with what we have done.

We decided (after we primed the upper half of the Panel), that we wanted to shave the portion of the roof seem that can be seen. We decided this, because we felt the look would be a lot cleaner and it is one of those modifications that you wouldn’t even notice if someone didn’t point it out to you. The picture on the right is the before picture, the next two are doing the modification, and the last one is after.

We also managed to get the our new air conditioning dash installed in it. We cut it along the slots that are behind the dash pad so that the welds are easily hidden by the dash pad once it is installed. We also decided to cut it there because the lower windshield lip is in great condition, so we decided not to separate the dash at the lip.

After having stripped the old primer from the lower left quarter we have found several more problems that were lurking underneath. Our project has received heavy use in the past and poor body work that has compounded the problems. This section of our Panel has a couple of large creases, bondo filled holes drilled, and the front of the rear wheel well looks to have rubbed hard up against something. It has flattened that area pretty well, and will require a lot of work to straiten.

As shown in the previous pictures we will be welding the holes up, and grinding them down smooth. We also found after trying to repair the flattened area of the wheel well, that we had to cut that area out and weld in a new section. We used a section out of a front left fender to make the patch panel and it worked out great.
