Hello
I have a 72 Chevy ¾ 4X4 with a 4spd that has been sitting for about 3 years (blown engine) I was think about buying a new one but I cant afford to drop the 44k for the Duramax. Now here is the question I will be pulling 31-foot trailer and I want to replace the small block with a big block.
What type of problems can I expect to encounter? The truck has PS, PB, AC and a 4speed.

I do not know the details, but I hear it is a real pain to do the big block into 4X4. Small blocks can make good torque...esp if you go with a 400.

You will have to either dent the firewall to fit arround the rear outside corners of the valve covers or use a 2" body lift for the valve covers to clear. It will set right in the small blocks place and you will have to use small block motor mounts. Also unless you want to notch the engine crossmember, you will have to go to headers.
