All the truck I have had to date were automatics, with a column shifter..and none of them worked for crap.
I was diggin in the Longhorn's column, installing the new cruise control switch, and I decided to investigate this problem a little.
If you rip off the wheel, turn signal assembly, the first colar, then the shifter...remove the colar that holds the shifter handle, and coat all the internials with anti-sieze compound, it'll feel like new!
I just thought i'd pass the info

Longhorn, I would like to know what the process is for installing cruise, please. I would like to get it setup on the tilt column I bought before I install it. And, since I've never replaced a column before, any advise I could get from anyone about it would be apprecitated. Especially since I've been told it's a van column and is to long for the truck.

All I did was replace the switch...I have factory cruise on it. (on the option sheet, and build sheet)
I'm not even sure if I can get mine working...let alone tell you what all you'll need.
Maybe Wes can help you?

Thanks for the tip! Since I currently have no reason to tear everything apart at this moment, I opted for the easy way out and sprayed a bunch of WD-40 through the red straw and into the shift lever where it attaches to the column. What a difference! I sprayed enough that it dripped out the bottom, so have plenty of rags. I then sprayed some of that lithium grease in there. It moves so much better now.
Thanks for the tip, Longhorn Man. BTW, how do you have any time to work or sleep? You have been on very board I have visited lately! We all have our vices, I guess.
Thanks,
