I got this number of the back of my block. A couple of the numbers were hard to read, but the number is:
14838235
The problem numbers were the first 8 and the last 3.

What is this engine? I always assumed it was a 327 since it has a 4 barrel intake with a blocked off filler hole. Maybe not. Any help would be appreciated. TIA

A few more details.

The heads have the accessory mount holes in them and the dipstick is on the right side. These both tell that at least part of the engine is later model. Am I correct?

How about some head #'s. www.mortec.com (http://www.mortec.com) has no listing on that block.

The holes in the heads started in 69...so that doesn't tell us too much, the passenger side dipstick IS a newer thing....mid 80's I'm thinking.
