Since I decided to lower the 70 It's been sitting in the yard, It went so doggon long without starting I had to tear into the carb. and clean the varnish out of it. But for the last month I've been working on it deligently.
I had stripped the interior completely out of it to redo the alarm, door lock and stereo wiring. well the wiring is completed, alarm is alive & well so is the electric door locks, stereo isn't hooked up yet, I'm waiting to get it together before adding all of the speakers. While I was at it I welded up all of the holes in the floorboard that I and whomever else had drilled throughout the years, and shoved the fuel tank to the rear (blazer)and I also coated the floorboard with that SPRAY ON truck bed liner. I just purchased a stepside tailgate off of E-BAY, It has seven rows of LOUVERS, Now I'm not a louver type of guy but it looked in very good condition and I needed one. and besides that I won't be the one looking at those louvers... hehehe
Today I decided to re-work my 70 grille for the BILLET insert that I also got off of E-BAY. I grabbed the saw and hammer, (saw to cut the center section out of the grille and hammer to beat out the dings in the outer grille) It's working out pretty good! I've never tried working the grille or trim mouldings before but I had seen a show that walked you through it step by step, right down to polishing and clear coating. It's going to be a lot of time invested,I of course had to cheat a little and get ahead of myself and polish a very small section, looks like chrome, all i had at home was red rouge (final polishing for gold and silver) so I'll bring home some tripoli (cuts aluminum much faster)from work this weekend and get to work.. I'd much rather use some ELBOW GREASE instead of the WALLET( $450.00 for a new outer grille for a 71-2)

I wish the best for the rest of you all on your projects..

Sounds like your project is coming together... A whole lot of elbow grease can save you a bundle!! You will have to keep us updated about how the clear coat holds up on pollished surfaces... WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com (http://www.classicHeartbeat.com)
