Well, my home page is up, it's not anywhere near finished but there are pics of my truck. Absense of paint, dents, rust and all...if ya care to see 'em.

still hunting all the rust http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/wink.gifi dont know about out there but around home here that is considered almost rust-free..i have a 84 s-10 sitting here at the house that has enough rust on it to make 3 of our trucks look like yours...personally i think your truck looks more solid than mine did so keep up the good work Sams....Anthony

Yeah, I got to hunting when I read longhorn and I think dale's critique of that rust-free restore job I found on eBay. One of them mentioned sill plate looking rusty. Mine have a lot of built up gunk on them and are a little rusty. I'd been fooling myself that both my doors were just surface rust. But at least the passenger door is going to need some work, probably replacement panels.

But, what do you mean 'out there'? I'm in KC, MO. where are you?

Yeah, it was me. For me it's the difference between my rust, and rust I'm considering purchasing. If it's being sold at a rust free price then I need to be honest with myself when I'm shopping. I hate it when I decide to buy a car or truck based on emotional appeal without really looking the truck over, and then regretting my decision. Mine has rust, which tells me what it's worth. I can accept it. I can't accept buying something and discovering more rust, and more cost than I realized.

My comment was simply the usual buyer beware. As far as the your truck, it looks darned good to me. Perhaps the most important thing is that you are happy. Perhaps the most discouraging thing that can happen is to buy a truck and discover a whole new set of problems and costs you weren't prepared for.

I wish you the best with your truck. Looks awfully good to me. I'm confident you looked it over thoroughly, know what you have, and are looking forward to a rewarding project.

Mine is a driver, I wouldn't want one that's perfect. What is nice is that I know what is wrong, and am ready for it. I've bought a few lemons. I'd rather say beware than read about someone who felt like he overlooked a big problem later.

Until later, great truck!!!

Thanks guys.

I had been driving past this truck 4 times a day during the week to and from work and on lunch breaks. Every time I saw it I'd think to myself, 'man that's a nice old truck, even with the gray bedside'. Then one day their was a for sale sign on it and I stopped and talked to him that night and bought it 2 days later. The ex gave me static for buying a truck on impluse like that but I didn't mind. I knew I wanted it and I wanted to fix it up and fix whatever might be wrong with it and drive it for a few years. My son is a truck man and he likes this one a lot. I put a TOD on it to him, to make sure he gets it. Maybe it'll be something special for him.

I understand the buyer beware idea. It was educational to me to read your's and longhorn's comments. I was thinking someday of maybe buying another classic truck, maybe for my son, if so I'm going to know better, including my own experience with my truck, what to look out for. This is a great site too for all of it's information and member comments. I also think that if someone is going to sell a truck as restored and in like new condition they should be up front about everything. They really should have replaced those sill plates. http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/smile.gif

I decided to rebuild the original motor rather than replace it. Getting started on it the middle of the week. I just keep throwin' money at this thing. http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/wink.gif

im from the corner of West Virginia that borders Ohio and Kentucky...its called Huntington http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/wink.gif... around here i have only seen one truck that has A/C...most are regular cab trucks without many options... i know of about a dozen of these trucks in the local yards and none are A/C and most are stripped all the way to the ground..litterally...although i did find a defrost vent....oh well...i like the look of your truck....Anthony

Who knows whether it's the original seat or not. The cloth cover is not what is supposed to be in it. It's supposed to be black vinyl. Whether or not the old seat was recovered with this hounds tooth cloth or this is a seat out of a Custom is a mystery. I'd personally reather have the vinyl.
