I need to throw this out to the Oregon guys.
As noted on another post I picked up a 1-1/2 ton Chev truck a few weeks ago and finally got it home.
I'm not sure if I have something with a mix and match batch of parts or what.
The title reads 1950 but the truck has a very low production number = 2445 so it is conceivable that Oregon titled it as a 50 in late 50.
Vin number shows that it is a 1951 4400 series 1-1/2 ton which as far as I can tell it is.
Now for the fun part. The vin number listed on the title doesn't match the vin plate nor does it match any vin combination that I can find on the sites that show how to decode old truck vin numbers.
So, my question is, did Oregon use engine numbers as the vin numbers in the early 50's?
This is the truck that I want to turn into a half or 3/4 ton with late running gear and I don't want to get up with issues of no title when I have a clear Oregon title from 1981 in hand and it appears that was the last time it was tagged.
