I've been working on my dash... smoothing it out (like the general theme of everything else on the truck). Here are some progress pics. The first one is a Photoshop mockup of basically what I'm trying to accomplish, except I'll be using a billet dash bezel to accommodate a pair of aftermarket gauges and the ignition cylinder. The finished product will be covered in vinyl--

I too was thinking that this was an ambitious project. Be sure to post the final pics.

Very Cool! I keep thinking about doing something like that but I am not so brave. I want to weld in the sheet metal instrument panel that I have now. I think it would look pretty neat molded in and painted red to make the dash all one color.

Thanks all, I'm a hack from way back so as far as the ambition goes, it's real easy for me to jump into something like this. The trick (that I haven't actually completely figured out in my lifetime so far) is how to actually finish such things http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/frown.gif

jwill41-- get out that torch! I think it would look great too. Just make sure you get some bracing behind there so the sheetmetal doesn't have the opportunity to bow on you.

Gordo-- probably, but I can only remember 5 things at a time... or is it 6? Hmmm. Can you refresh my memory???

Wrapping it up. I still need to clean up the bottom edge a little bit, but it's almost done...

No problem gives me an excuse to go to the salvage yard. What are you going to do for the geage lay out. have you thought abought using an late 80s comarro they are simaler in shape and you can get them didgital in stock or after market form. that would give you every thing you need if you use the tilt wheel from it and all the light switches that come with it it would look good. I thought abought going that way on my 67 but just didnt trust my body work skill to make it mach the shape.
