View Full Version : Summer is gone........ So Sad!!
Well it would seem that our Summer has come to a close. 2nd day of chilly temps and some rain.
I know that our winters are mild in comparison to other parts of the world  , but is is cold to others too!!  .
This has been our hottest summer on record, (Washington State's) and when the temps topped 104 farenheit, I did not complain, because it followed one of the coldest and snowiest winters that we have had since the 1960s combining that with a long cold wet winter the year befor.
I could have used about 6 more months of summer!! :frown:
How is the wether where you are? Some of you must be just coming into your springtime weather. WES

Wes it has been a hot summer and a hot september.today it didn,t crack 70 and i haven,t been happier in a long time.i know the rain can be depressing but so to can monotonous dry conditions
Don't get me wrong here, I am just wining..lol I know that most of California has been experiencing a drought for several years. I would happily send some of our rain down to you guys if I could. We use to get snow like what we experienced last winter in the 60's. I realy enjoyed it back then, but then I was just a kid then too... I actualy enjoyed the snow last winter also, because it was sutch a change in the seemingly endless rain. It is just that it fell after one of our shortest, rainiest summers on record. So I was plenty happy to enjoy out record hot summer, believe me...
This is why I am sad to see summer end... and am wining a little..lol, OK, a lot!! WES

Winter is also in Oregon now. After living here for 7 years, I just took advantage of the 30% tax credit and had a wood stove installed a few weeks ago. Back in Calif, that was the way I heated my home, but when we moved here, electricty was so much cheaper, I said i was finished with cutting and splitting wood every year. Now that I have my wood stove again, I see how much nicer it is than the central heat. The problem is, Im not as young as I used to be and cutting and splitting isnt treating this old body very well. I finally broke down and bought 2 cords of wood yesterday. Even at that, It is still far cheaper to heat this place than with the heat pump. I have it figured, in 2 years, I wil have made back what I paid for the new stove in electric savings. ($300 a month!!!) Im happy and warm now! Almost forgot.. On top of the $1500 from the feds, there is also a $300 credit from Oregon.
I use to love cutting firewood. I have thought about installing a stove in my house just so I would have an excuse to do so. I did it for years and is how I made my living during the late 70s and early 80s. Helped to keep me in shape, and I had a way to reliece aggression too. If firewood wasn't so hard to come by and so expencive here I might still consider a stove... WES
