70 BOWTIE, have you been in their web site?? They have a starter kit for only $15.00. I am going to order it, and try it for myself. The presentation is very good, and one of the other guy's on this board has used it, and claim's it's like magic!! I'm looking forward to trying it out. Go to www.por15.com/index.html (http://www.por15.com/index.html) and click on the red cans in the right corner. Then scroll down to the starter kit. Good Luck, and let us know if you try it before me.

I got a catalog from them a while back it say's the starter kit covers 6 square feet.I think that would only be 1/2 of 1 side of the floor board.I would think a quart would do it maybe both sides.

Just remember that if you place it in the bad, you'll want to cover it with a top coat. The UV rays in the sunlight will render it useless.
I been putting off getting it too...and I even get a discount!
(Don't ask...I honestly can't help out with getting you some on the cheap)

The product that I have been advising is Hammerite Rust Cap. It can be purchased at your local lumber store and even is coming in different colors. It is verry durable and I have always had good luck with it. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com (http://www.ClassicHeartbeat.com)

Wes, thanks for the other product. I'll look for that too. Can't hurt to do a side by side comparison test can it?? As with anything like this, I think it all has to do with the proper prep work of degreasing the metal. Allmost anything will or won't stick to a metal surface, depending on it's cleanliness.

I did the under coating trick years ago and it held up good. I found the areas need to be good and clean for best results and also found better results with going over rust killer or a good paint. It kida helps with sound and seal but if it's used in exposed areas it looks crappy after a few years. I am in the process of trying to get the stuff off for a full restore.

Is there any sanding involved with finishing these products, or do you paint directly over it? Also, what's a good way to prepare the sheet metal for using por 15?
