Carrier bearing on this truck must be installed with truch in load position (lifted by tires not frame) The mechanic who installed the front an rear U joints for me did not know this and almost destroyed my tranny.

Why should it matter? The slip joint that is behinde the carrier is the one that should take up all the slack from suspention movement. I honestly don' know why they put a slip yolk on the tranny output, the splines do it just fine and this just requires a new seal every couple times you pull the shaft out.
