Hey there, guys. Just registered today and it looks like you guys have a good thing going here, it's good to be a part of it.
My '70 is my daily driver and I would like to save a little gas $$ if possible. Right now I'm running a Holley carb 4bbl (not sure about the cfm) with Edelbrock intake, and like the old saying, I pass everything but gas stations.
Anybody running a carb that gives you (relatively) good mileage? Will I need to convert to electric choke?
Keep up the good work.

Welcome to the club! Where are you located?
The eldebrock carbs have fairly small primarys, and if you were to tune one carefuly, it'll do pretty dang good.
Probably your best bet, would be a real tight Quadra-jet. They have the same small primary/huge secondary set up as the Eldebrock, but they seem to be a little better at sipping the juice. Either one, you need to tune and jet it with very acurate testing to gt best results.
Holly would be my last choice fomr MPG...and I don't just say that becouse i hate them.
An electric choke is probably the best bet. You could posably do better with a manual one, but I feel an automatic one will 'read' the engine better than 99% of the people.

I have had the best results with installing an RV cam, Edelbrock performer intake, and 600 cfm electric choke carberator. That is the combination that has always worked for me to have the best power and fuel econimy.. It is not too bad on the wallet either... And welcome to our boards.. Glad to have you aboard. http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/smile.gif WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com (http://www.ClassicHeartbeat.com)
