After getting my truck back on the road I've found that the transmission seems to be slipping. After sitting at a stoplight, when I step on the accelerator the motor revs a second before the tranny kicks in and she takes off. Or, she'll roll backwards on a hill while in drive.

I wasn't haven't any trouble with it before the truck sat a few weeks. I can't remember if I got to drive it or not after I replaced the neutral safety back-up light switch on the steering column. I replaced the switch because the reverse lights weren't working. And after replacing the bulbs and the tail lamp harness, I thought the switch might be the cause. I was wondering could that switch be off a bit causing this problem? Maybe vibration in the steering column moving it to neutral? Also, the reverse lights work now, but when the truck neutral not reverse.

Thanks,

It sounds as if you are low on tranny fluid. Many times when a truck sits for a while the fluid in the torque converter bleeds down into the transmission causing an overfull situation and it will leak out slowly. It has happened to me a few times.

Maybe that is why I have a puddle of fluid under my 67 after it sits for a while. Sometimes I don't drive it for weeks and I have that puddle.

It was low. Topped it off and it works fine now. Thanks. Still got the problem with the reverse lights only coming on in neutral though, and it starts in drive too.

Sounds like a problem with your neutral safety switch or wiring on your steering column under the dash.
