A while ago I saw a message here with pic of a dash with a different speedometer installed in it. I am updating my 71 dash and want to put a 160 or 120 MPH speedo in it and want to get some info on what I can replace the original with. When I am dragracing it I wind up with the speedo trying to start over past 90 with my drag tires on it.
Camaro Speedometers work and they have them up to 150mph I think. They also have 5000 RPM tachs. I think the years are in the early 80s. I have a complete dash that has the 5000 rpm tach, 130mph speedometer, and the little clock for the spare hole in the truck dash. I would sell it if someone offered me enough money for it, otherwise I am going to put together a dash for one of my trucks... WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com (http://www.ClassicHeartbeat.com)

Was there ever a vaccum gauge in that spare hole of the truck dash?
I've thought about putting a clock in there myself. I have one that would fit, it doesn't work but it could probably be fixed.

Thats a 5000 redline tach and it is 7000 total rpms. Sam's 71, both the Vaccum and air pressure gauges were available in these dashes. Although they were meant for the larger trucks, like the 2 tons. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com (http://www.ClassicHeartbeat.com)

I see speedos in the Summit catalog and was wondering if our guages are the 5" ones?
I was wondering the same thing about the vacuum guage and spare hole. Never seen where the vacuum guages went though. I am going to put a voltmeter there. I have a single wire altinator on my truck and the ammeter doesn't work so it sounded like a good thing to do.
