Wes;
Does the video detail the removal and replacement fo the window mechanisms and track and vent window assembly?
It shows you how to replace all of the above, but not the removal. I have spoken to the production company about this and they may fix that, but for now it does not. My problem has always been replacing the parts after I remove them and not the actual removal itself. So the video helps me emencly... Yes, it's a good video. I'll never be able to master the sheet metal work myself, but it may prove valuable other people I know who can. Taking the door/window apart was no big chore but the video was a good visual aide for replacing everything. I like the part where they say, it's takes a little finesse to get the regulator back in place, ha! It takes a lot of cussin'. http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/smile.gif

WES / anyone,
I am trying tohang new doors...what a nightmare! I welded braces and cross braces before cutting out the rockers, cab supports etc. But there remains a 5/16 gap at the latch side and to line the contours up, causes the window fram at the windshield to rub. Can shims be used between the doorand hinge? Any suggestions? Does the door video cover problems such as these?
Sorry the door video doesn't cover mounting the door back on the truck. I don't think it's a real problem though. I don't think there is any reason you can't use shims behind the hinges either. You just need to watch that you don't create a problem with the top bow. I went out and checked the measurements on several trucks that I know the doors have never been removed from and all were at least 1/4" away from the post and several were 5/16" and I even had one that was 3/8" away. The specs GM had for these trucks back then were wide, because they were trucks and not cars. People who bought trucks back then bought them for work vehicles and didn't care that much about the asthetics. It is only us guys who are restoring them that care about the body lines now..... So if we want straiter lines we need to do a little extra shimming here and there.... Hope this helps... WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com (http://www.ClassicHeartbeat.com)

Spoke with Wes today and my video is on the way. I too have no problem tearing things down. It is after many hours and new paint that I want them to go back together smoothly. Will be replacing all the guts and want to look it over before I get to that point. Thanks Wes.
