I know value is in the eyes or pocketbook of the buyer. I'm not looking for someone to convince me to buy another truck either. Most say I need another truck like I need another ....

Anyway, I have a chance to buy a 68 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive suburban. Bone stock, 327, AT, PS, PB. Rust in drivers floor and rocker, all three front door corners, some in rear quarter panels. It is custom model with chrome trim. Only a couple of small dents. Says original owner (I've watched this guy drive it for 15 yrs) and original paint (I found evidence of repaint on whole truck). It looks alot like the condition of 68 suburbans truck from distance only green and white. Says 136k miles, smokes when started, says rebuilt tranny, newer cheapy P235/75/15 tires, aftermarket cruise (non-working). rear liftgate/drop gate looks pretty good conditon, typical seat tears on driver side, 2 seat model.

1)What else should I be looking at?

2)What is something like this worth?

Please offer and help and advise you can.

I paid $1100 for my truck 2 years ago, but there is no rust on the truck. You can eat of the underneath with no scale what so ever. Rockers are solid. Rust repairs can be expensive, so make sure it is not extensive.

Burb prices have gone up quite a bit lately, so it is hard to put a price on the truck.

Ocasionaly I will run across a burb in Phoenix with original paint like mine and no rust for $2k, but those are becoming a lot harder to find.

Thanks for the reply. I would prefer rust free truck too (I would jump on this one no-doubt). These rust areas look repairable just I'm not real capable doing this type of repair myself and would like to farm it out running cost of truck up quite a bit.

I find that it is easy to over look the cost of rust repair when looking at a vehicle to buy. The truth is, it is probably the most expensive thing you are going to do to your truck, unless you can do the work yourself http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/smile.gif
