Question: How do I identify a bare frame for a 67-72 Chevy short? Markings, ID tag, numers, or what? There is no cab and I hate to pay for something that will not work. Thanks for any help and info.
Jim
The wheel base on a short box frame is 115" on a long frame it is 127". WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Wes,
I had the wheel bases down. ha ha I wanted to know how to differentiate between the different years and to make sure it is a 67-72 Chevy frame. Should have been clearer, huh?

On the top of the driver side rail forward of where the engine mount tower bolts down there are some no's that will tell year made.

yes on the drivers side frame rail in front of the motor mount towers are the numbers the frist number on the frame, is the last number in the year of the frame. and it is followed by a letter such as a Z (which is the location where it was assembled). and the rest are the serial numbers.
anyways a -7Z100001 would be a 67 frame
ands a -2Z100001 would be a 72 frame

Aren't the 64 - 65 the exact same?
One thing to look at at just a glacne is the frame up front where the radiator goes takes a steep quick dive, then after that, it is all pretty much straight. Also, no truck since then has had coil springs in teh back. (in case it is a roller) Also, front drums or 6 lug wheels ona 2 wheel drive will tip you off at it being one of ours.
Torsion bar front end would make it an early to mid 60's.
