My truck had leaf springs, new frame has coil, which is better to stay with? Truck was a GMC 68 SWB--new frame is 67.

There was a topic farther on down, 'coil to leaf spring' or something like that, where this was discussed.
I'll bet someone is going to ask you 1/2 or 3/4 ton and 2-WD or 4-WD.
And yesterday there was another post about the differences between 67 frames and the rest of the model years frames.

Thanks, but I saw the topic about changing them, I wanted to know if either one is better,, do I keep the coil or try to change it. And it is a 1/2 ton 2-wd.
Squaw, The coil spring rear end is a great set-up. I prefer that to the leaf spring myself. You are not going to use your truck for heavy hauling all the time and that would be the only reason that I would concider changing it. I have a 67 c-20 and I haul lumber in it all the time and it handles it great. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com (http://www.ClassicHeartbeat.com)

We are getting excited about you finally getting to work on it. You havn't been on the boards much and we would like to think that it is because you have been busy working on your truck.. lol WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com (http://www.ClassicHeartbeat.com)

Slow but steady working on the truck,, gathering all the little parts that I need, decided since engine was out to rebuild it before I put it back in truck. So it is taking longer to do every thing.
Well taking your time is good, that way you do a good job of restoring it. Sounds like you are too!! Keep us posted.. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com (http://www.ClassicHeartbeat.com)
