OK I noticed that there are 2 types of filters for the 400 trans.(no biggy right) until I went to get 1 and there is like $25. difference.eek:I pulled the trans out of the 67 GMC and was planning on putting it in the project 69.Is there much or any difference in the tranny seems 67 was the only year for this type of filter?

I now have a early 67 tranny in my 71 GMC burb. there are 4 differences I found. the first is the old style filter. the second is the pan has a indention for the old style filter. third the kickdown switch plug is 1 prong instead of 2. I talked to several tranny guys and found out the newer style th400 had a actual ground added to the inside of the valve body of the tranny. the 4th is i had to switch the rear cover so my driveline would fit. my driveling in the burb was larger than the hole on the rear of the 67 chev tranny. for this to work you need the early 67 front seal and the late 67-72 rear seal. I will try to post a pic for you of the ground inside my old (71) th400 tranny.
I hope this helps.
