Now its time for my Thanksgiving Sob story.
Last July I purchased a rebuilt starter from Wes because he was price competitive and he shipped it quick as promised. (Gee...Did you expect any thing else). Then something funny happened. As soon as I received the starter from WES the starter on my 70CST strangely fixed itself. As if the starter knew that a separation from the Green Machine was about to take place. (Do you think the starter was attached to my Chevy HEHE) http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/smile.gif Any way..If its not broke don't fix it..So I did not change the starter. Then last week the starter on the truck gave up the ghost. So the time was at hand to swap starters. Then when I opened the box to pull out my A-1 rebuilt starter I got that "Oh no I can't believe I did that" feeling. (Do you know what I mean?) I pulled the ultimate BOO BOO...I never checked the box/starter for any shipping damage. The lever housing had a very nice V shaped crack in the housing.
(I wonder how the HOLE in the box got there?) It seems the GENTLE HANDS of the shipping company were not so gentle. As my son Jacob use to say..."Me Bad". I now felt like the TURKEY of all TURKEYS. So whose fault is it? MEMEME!!! If I would have checked the starter when I received it I would have found the damage my friendly shipping company did. WES did his part...I did not do my part...I did not check the box for damage. Now I have two bad starters. The lesson is this...Always check your parts when they are shipped...you never know what you will find.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
P.S. Remember...It's this time of year that one must be glad he/she was not born a turkey. http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/smile.gif

Dewayne, good to hear from you. Is it possible to swap housings? The housing on your old starter should be OK, just swap the rebuilt innards to the old housing. steve

Both housings are shot. On the bright side...Both of the starters have been rebuilt
so if I run across a starter housing I can swap. Also note the BB starters were a little different. The BB starter is higher amps plus its physically a little different. I Think? Remember...I know enough to be dangerous which makes it costly. Know what I mean? http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/smile.gif
