Spent the last few days trying to fix, fan speed, air/heat controls, replace dash pad, get windshield washer working, etc. Pulled some of the under dash heater plastic duct work out. The plastic box that has the flapper in it for routing air to heater or Air has a plactic flapper with a rubber gasket. I bought it brand new from a 67-72 truck part supplier from North Carolina like 2 years ago---the rubber is falling apart --it is junk. I paid like $60. for this thing!! A warning--when buying parts/pieces for our old trucks, be careful of anything that is rubber as the stuff from Tiwan etc. is junk. The plastic, metal stuff may be ok but even some of the cromed stuff like door handles, mirrors, emblems may pit real quick. You may want to qualify expectations before you buy! I had similar problems with front end bushings a few years ago on a 57 T-Bird. After I had the whole front end rebuilt, within 3 years, all the rubber bushings were falling apart!! Be Careful.

Hey Warren, How about e-mailing me the name of that company so I can steer clear. I have bought some rubber products from a North Carolina Co., but they deal in lots of cars and trucks.
Thanks, Tommy

My intent of giving a little "heads up" here, was not to shoot a particular dealer but to inform those who might be intending to buy some plastic/rubber parts without knowing the potential problems if not quality. I would bet that many of the dealers get the same parts from major wholesalers who import the stuff from overseas. Just be aware that any rubber stuff from a "no-name manufacturer" could turn out to be junk. I will post a picture of the flapper box shortly. Regards---(:>)
