Anyone know how hot brake calipers get on disc brakes? I've been painting away on the frame and suspension with Hammerite, Wes suggested it and I have to say it's a good paint, like POR 15. Painted the spindles and dust shields, but have rusty brake calipers. I can clean them but would like to paint them. Will they require high temp. paint or will Hammerite do?
You should be allright with the hammerite.. The calipers are not what heats up when you have hot brakes, it is the rotors. The pads actualy act as an insolator to the calipers. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com (http://www.ClassicHeartbeat.com)

Wes,
Thanks! I knew the rotors got hot, but wasn't sure about the calipers. Figured I could field test by driving around and feeling the calipers, but it seemed a bit weird. Thanks for the help!
Today I started using the silver-grey Hammerite. Not sure if I like it or not...
