I was going to pull apart the front driver side suspension of my Scirocco to find out why the wheel locks up when the axle nut is torqued down.... http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/wink.gif made the test drive really short, couldn't go anywhere. I replaced a wheel bearing a couple weeks ago. The whole knuckle was messed up so bad I had to replace it. I'm hoping it's something simple, but I have a feeling the axle might be messed up too. Instead, I ended up going over to my Brother's place to help him pull apart a carburetor. He's trying to get his mazda truck to pass emissions, and he thinks the carb is the problem.

Well I spent the day pulling all of the sheet metal off of a 72 3/4 ton Big Block GMC Super Custom, then pulling the motor and transmission. The core support and front fenders were so rusty, I almost didn't have to unbolt them..LOL Now I need to pull the disk brake front end, power brake booster, master cylender, and proportioning valve and get it ready to mount on my 67 3/4 ton Chevy. Anyone looking for a Possi Dana 60 Leaf spring rear end? Good used 71-72 GMC Grill? WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com (http://www.ClassicHeartbeat.com)

Well I spent today (Sunday) finishing the pressure washing that I started to do on the 72 GMC front crossmember, pulled the engine out of my 67 C/20, pressure washed the front of the frame back to the transmission and actually the entire area under the hood. Tommorow I hope to get the 4 speed transmission, standard crossmember, manual steering gear, steering column and drum brake front end out from under it. Then comes the fun part... installing the disk brake front end, small block V-8, turbo-350, automatic column, auto linkage and power steering gear........ Fun, fun, fun!! LOL WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com (http://www.ClassicHeartbeat.com)

Great progress, Sam! Looks like you're ready to slide that fresh engine in.

I spent most of saturday trying to restore the AC wiring back to the original circuit. I melted the fan motor connector when I hooked up one of the original AC power wires. http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/mad.gif Found an "added" jumper wire, removed it, removed the fan motor and epoxied what was the connector, back it place, replaced some fuses and the AC fan and compressor clutch now work as advertised. http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/smile.gif Sunday I drove the Cheyenne to the parts store to pick up some R-134A. It turns out the previous owner has already converted it and hopefully it is just low on freon. While I was out, I filled up with gas. When I pulled in the driveway, the smell of gas was still very strong, but it was coming from under the hood. I guess the fuel pump sat for too long with the last owner and it gave up. http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/frown.gif Pulling that hose with a full tank of fuel is a smelly mess and the flare nut on the pump doesn't want to let go!
Hopefully tonight will get the new pump on, and some freon in the system to see if it's cool! http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
LOL,
Kent

Wes,

I'm sure for advertising you'll want to get a few out on the street, sort of gratis. I suppose I could help you out if you insist.

Great looking grille!

Finally got my Big Orange machine into the shop for the ghost flame job. Can't wait to see the results. Also going to get my 2" drop springs on when they get here and before the snow flies here in Fairbanks, which can be anytime from now on but the weather has been holding nicely. I also took 2nd place on labor day weekend in the king of the street race and 3rd in the ET backet race. The old truck ran perfectly. Driver was a little slow on the lights. Still wound up the year in 17th place on points and I only raced 2 weekends on the season.
