Looks good! Hope this fever isn't contagious, I want to go pre-WWII car next. Then again, I could go wide short, etc...

You ask what you can do with 2 trucks... install a caddy engine of course!

There we go...I got the pictures to come up.
Looks pretty good to me. Since it isn't a $10,000 truck, I can't be so picky when looking at it, plus, there does not seem to be much wrong in the pics. However, i did notice that you will probqably not be able to see out the reaview mirrors due to there location, and there was some red overspray under the hood. And the bed looks like it may have been painted at a later date than the cab...the color seems a little off. But that is all I could see...looks like a good ride.
Do me a favor, when you get it, let me know what you think.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I know that with an eBay truck, I'm taking my chances, but I'm willing to. Besides, I had a little extra coin and it was a birthday present to me. http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/smile.gif As long as I can keep one of these two beasts up and running I'll be happy.

The description says the AC isn't hooked up, oh boy another one, looks like the compressor and condenser are missing.

Mirrors: I saw them. They look like they're off an 80's model, or a f**d. But, I can't see out of the stock passenger side on the `71, what were they thinking when they designed that. The vent frame is in the way.

Overspray: If you mean the inner fenders, I agree. They look splotchy too, like a spray can job. Who knows how many short cuts are in there, for that price.

Color: Something that I've had to, and always will, depend on others for help with because I'm colorblind. But, I'll let you know what I hear.

It's about a 160 mile drive one way to get it so I'll find out if it is road worthy. My sister has offered to take me down this week. Maybe I'll take a day off work and do that. She wants to make a detour over to Pittsburg and see relatives, so I'll get some other opinions too.

I will let you know what I think.

Well I think it's a great looking truck. It looks real solid, but with fresh paint, you never know what you will find. The price was right though. I believe we have a nice new red dash pad in stock also. Let us know if we can do anything for you. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com (http://www.ClassicHeartbeat.com)

Ok, I got the `67 Chevy Custom home. I had mixed feelings about it initially. While it looks good in the pictures, from a distance, it's pretty shabby up close. Lots of overspray, red and black. Some runs and paint on the trim. Probably one of those 'ought oh, better get Macco' jobs. But, I can live with it.

Checked under the hood and found it didn't have a power steering pump cap and I could stick my finger all the way in and not find fuild. Bought a cap, some fluid, added little bit of anti-freeze filled it up with fuel (gauge doesn't go past 1/4) and hit the road. Got home and found that one of the steering box hoses had a leak and replaced it.

It made the nearly 200 mile trip without a problem though. It runs fine. I did stop along the way and buy a heater valve to keep the hot air from coming in the cab and melting me. I think I only got around 10 miles to the gallon with it.

It had an exhaust leak so I had it checked out. Cracked passenger side manifold. When it was up on the racks I got a look at the exhaust pipes. Two inch pipes down the outside of the frame into 'glass packs', hate 'em. Replaced it all with 2-1/2 inch pipe run inside the frame and some throatier mufflers. Sounds nice now.

I put new brakes all the way around. Guess I'm just used to driving the 'Vette and being just able to go from 60 to 0 almost as fast as 0 to 60. The power drum brakes just didn't feel as comfortable as 4-wheel anti-lock discs.

Let's see, it needed a passenger side idler arm to pass the state safety inspection. Alignment was okay though. It's got one mismatched tire. ****, Korean brand Kumho Venture AT's. Thought I'd never find one more, had to order it from Colo. and it should be in late next week. New belts, the power steering fluid kinda stretched the old ones out. It needs a passenger side window regulator not just the crank handle, got it today. No windshield washer bottle. No spare tire, guess all I need is the 6 bolt wheel. I found a used dash bezel that's in great shape that I plan on putting in it.

I drove it today, it runs great and it drives great I'm liking it a lot more now! The side view mirrors do suck Longhorn. It has a new windshield. The valve covers leak a little but it doesn't burn any oil. Still shows full on the dip stick and it's clean I can see through it.

Well, that's what I think of it.

Very cool. Did you change out the exhaust all the way back? It looked kinda odd sticking out the back like that. Looks like you got a good truck, for the price. And I'm with longhorn, we need better pics http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Yes, 68Step, I changed the entire exhaust, but it still comes out the back. It's quietier that way. That's one thing that bugs me about the 71 I can't hear anything but the exhaust. As far as bondo, it's kinda wavy looking in places. It's had some work, doors and rockers replaced. And, I'll have to do the floors someday.

As far as pictures. Just haven't had time to sit down and do another website for it. What with chasing down parts for the two of them. Someday though...

Best way to check for bondo is to use a clean soft rag with a magnet in it. Pass it over your truck where you might find bondo. Hope you don't find much.
