I just got done installing a quick ratio power steering gear to replace the piston style power steering on my Burb. The only thing wrong with the old style was the steering gear was getting a little lose. The only problem I had was I had to find a 24 hour auto parts store to get a different pittman arm. The original ones hole was to small for the new gear box, so I got one for a 76 C-10 and it worked fine. I also installed the sway bar when I did the conversion. Man, it seems to handle like a Vette now http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/smile.gif

Night and day huh? I know the old longhorn felt like it would flip onto it's side before leaning an inch(huge sway bar) and this turd I'm driving now...weels like I'm about to rip the door handles off every time I take a corner.

When I arrived in Chicago, the Burb had 15x 5.5 inch rims, no Sway bar and a gear box that was 6.5 turns lock to lock.

Now it has 15x8 rims, a sway bar and a gear box that is 3 1/2 turns lock to lock.

It is heaven.

I have all the ram parts for you Mike.

Need to rebuild my powersteering, then again maybe I'll just upgrade. Where'd you get the quick ratio?

Chris got lucky and scored it on E-bay.
So did you have to have the hoses fabbed, or did you find some adapters?

I got lucky and found it on ebay for $30 rebuilt http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/smile.gif I would get one for a mid 70's. You will have to get a pitman arm for the bigger hole that was on the mid 70's. I got both power steering hoses that I needed from Murray's Discount Auto in Chicago for a total of $25 http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/ubb/smile.gif I used the same power steering pump from the ram set up and it works fine.
