It may take a little gentle persuasion.
While you’re in there, replace the bushings.
You can take them to a shop and have them pressed in/out.
-----Or-----
Drill out the rubber between the sleeves and hammer out the a-arm side sleeve using a drift and a vice.

Hope this helps,

Denny

If you've got a 67-72 truck, there are no press in bushings. Once you remove the large nut front and rear, remove the two nuts holding it to the frame, DO NOT LOOSE ALIGNMENT SHIMS, and remove the top arm./ There should be instructions included on replacing the shaft into the upper control arm. Hope this helps?

Yup, Dan is right.
Interestingly enough, on the 3/4 ton and one ton trucks, they retained the older style for a few more years.
