I just installed an Old Air "Hurricane" A/C unit in my '72 C-20. I am not all that impressed with the unit. Does anyone else have the same one? How much R134 did you put in it? Do you like it?
I need some feedback.
Thanx!

I have an Old Air products installed in a 1970 GMC c-1500 and I am very Dissapointed with the unit I have called tech on a regular basis over the last two 2 years and what they are now telling me is to insulate MORE as the unit can not keep up with the heat coming in from outside I have had a compressor blow fan motor go out and returned the evaperator for testing with no better results

My Vintage Air unit has been in about 5 years, works great.

Ive had OLD AIR for nine years without a problem. Cools good in 110 weather My truck doesn't have any extra insulation, but all the firewall holes are plugged so nothing comes in there. I am using R12 in mine which probably helps. I also put a shutoff valve in both heater hoses. A couple years ago I cut the dash for factory outlets which I like better than under dash. Now mine does seem to get colder then another one I did with R134.
