This beautiful short Fleetside belongs to Doug Chisholm. Doug tells me that the truck was purchased new at Raines Chevrolet of Sunnyvale CA. and sometime after that purchased by a lady in Tenino, WA. The truck was used for years as a farm truck until it was purchased by a meat manager around 1990 and brought up to British Columbia. The meat manager owned it for several years until Doug spotted it and had to have it. It took Doug 3 or 4 visits to the meat manager to convince him to sell it, and after all of that work his wife tried to convince him to keep it. Anyway after much debate between the meat manager and his wife, Doug finally struck a deal with him. The rest is history!! Fortunately for Doug the truck has always been taken care of, so rust and stuff like that was minimal. The truck was originally an in-line 6 truck with a granny low 4 speed transmission, but that wasn't enough for Doug. It now sports a rebuilt 283 that he says is basically stock and he kept the 4 speed transmission for it. The engine sports an "Edelbrock" Air Gap intake with 600 CFM, electric choke carb. to feed it. Doug also replaced the starter, water pump, radiator and installed flex cool type radiator hoses to finish the engine out. Doug uses a yellow top Optima battery to start it, Dunlop tires to ride on and an 1 1/4 sway bar to make it handle better in the corners. He is presently working on an "X" type exhaust system with "Flowmasters" to make it breath better and will be replacing the clutch and brakes so it can start and stop better!! This was Doug's first restoration, (It took 7 years) so he says that he has learned a lot. We think that he did an outstanding job!!
