Back

Here is a beautiful 67 Chevy C/10 long bed that has been meticulously restored by Art and Tammy McMahon.  It has been in their family since it was purchased new.  At one time it had a camper shell with home built bunks, winch, and a towing hook.  It has been owned by two of their grandfathers who used it primarily as a fishing truck.  It was stored in an avocado grove, and suffered a lot of rust damage.  However the 327 V-8 engine was always kept in top shape.  This last Fall it was handed down to their son as a graduation gift and not being driven in several years it was absolutely infested with Black Widow spiders.  Undaunted  they cleaned it up, removed the camper, bunks, old rotten pine bed.  They replaced the rusted panels, hoses, links, springs, shocks, bumpers, old chrome badges, old dual trailer mirrors, lenses and bulbs.  They then restored the interior, replacing most of the rubber parts, gaskets and seals.  Finally they refurbished the auxiliary fuel tank, and rebuilt the brake system.  The old pine bed bottom was replaced with a beautiful oak, and stainless replacement with the most noticeable improvement being the Du-Pont paint job in metallic Seafoam green with three layers of clear coat.  14" chrome Baby-Moon rims with wide track tires, a chrome finish muffler and tailpipe were added for much better look.  The work that still needs to be done is, the engine still needs a lot of beautifying, seat needs reupholstered, the rear needs lowered, and the drum brakes converted to disk.  However they say that it is fun to drive as it is, and is a conversation starter wherever they go.
